Why Putting Yourself First is Not Selfish But Essential for Success

As a mindset expert, speaker, and author, I’ve seen many people struggle with the idea of putting themselves first. It can feel selfish like we’re not considering the needs of others. But, in reality, taking care of yourself is one of the most selfless things you can do.

Think about it – when you go on a plane, they always tell you to put your own oxygen mask on before assisting others in case of an emergency. Why? Because you need to be in good shape to help others. The same applies in life. If you’re not taking care of yourself, you can’t take care of others properly.

When you should put yourself first

So, when I say to put yourself first, I’m not talking about being selfish. I’m talking about prioritizing your own wellbeing so that you can be the best version of yourself and help others more effectively. This applies to your personal life, your relationships, and your career.

When you’re not feeling your best, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and stressed. But, when you prioritize self-care, you can prevent burnout and find a clear, calm path to your dream life. This might mean taking time for yourself each day to meditate, exercise, or read. It might mean setting boundaries with friends and family to protect your own time and energy.

Remember, taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. It’s essential. And, when you take care of yourself, you can be the best version of yourself for the people in your life that matter most.

So, let’s make a pact to put ourselves first, to prioritize self-care, and to be the best version of ourselves for our loved ones.
