As a mindset expert, speaker, and author, I often encounter people who struggle with the question, “Am I good enough?” It’s a common concern, but who are we really asking this question for? Are we asking if we are good enough for ourselves or for others? It’s essential to understand that the only person we should worry about being good enough for is ourselves.
Overcoming self-doubt with achievements
So, how can we overcome this self-doubt and improve our self-belief? The answer is by achieving things. When we set out to achieve something and actually accomplish it, we feel a sense of achievement. This sense of accomplishment increases our self-belief, which, in turn, boosts our self-worth. When we have achieved something, we gain confidence in our abilities and become more confident overall.
Always recognise your achievements
Furthermore, when we achieve something, it is essential to recognize and acknowledge it. We should always set ourselves up for achievements that we can achieve today, not tomorrow. We shouldn’t put off happiness by telling ourselves that we will be happy when we achieve something in the future. Happiness only exists in the present moment, and we need to recognize our achievements today, not in the future.
How to get started
To get started, make a list of things that you would like to achieve by the end of the day. Be realistic and focus on accomplishing things that are achievable. As you complete each item, check it off the list or put a line through it. This way, you get a sense of accomplishment and can recognize your achievement.
It’s important to understand that happiness is the key to overcoming self-doubt and improving our self-belief. Can you think of anyone who has ever gone to the doctor because they were too happy? The answer is no because our default mechanism is to be happy. When we’re happy, we feel good about ourselves, and that’s when we’re at our best.
So, don’t let self-doubt hold you back from achieving great things. Remember that the only person you should be good enough for is yourself. Set achievable goals, recognize your achievements, and be happy in the moment.
